The global pandemic is a trigger for this pre-existing crisis because virtual learning is only increasing the amount of time we spend glued to our screens. It is natural to expect increasing rates of screen time within adolescents and even children. We can’t control our screen time spent on online learning, although we can control the amount of screen time we spend on recreation such as social media, Netflix, instant messaging, and so on.
