On the Road to Freedom

Mylon Le Fevre passed away recently. Our prayers are with his wife and family.

I would like to tell you about Mylon Le Fevre. According to his book, Live Forever (2013) Mylon was born on October 6th, 1944 in Gulfport Miss into a musical family that loved Jesus. Since he was 5 years old, he toured with the family and played musical instruments. He even wrote his own songs! Church and Gospel music were daily parts of his life. However, it took a long time for Mr. Le Fevre to find his own way to the Lord.

His musical ability took him from country churches and brought him into the presence of some of the biggest names in Rock and Roll and Country music: Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, The Who, George Harrison and many others. It also brought him into the lifestyle of those musicians: women, enormous amounts of money, and drugs. While on tour with these bands he prayed yet was depressed and searching for answers. Mylon says, “If Jesus had walked into my hotel room during that time, I wouldn’t have even recognized Him!”

There is a difference between being saved and being in the will of God! While it is the Lord’s will that you be saved, He has a plan for you after that, and just like Jonah, you avoid it at your peril!

After many years of living that lifestyle of drugs, women and song and knowing that he was going down a road that was not in line with the Lord’s plan for him, in 1980 he asked Jesus to be….LORD.

After that, Mylon was very successful as a Christian music artist, winning a Grammy and Dove Awards as Mylon Le Fevre and Broken Heart. These days he has a teaching ministry (Mylon.org) and a TV show, On the Road to Freedom with his wife Christi Le Fevre. They travel to exotic locales and share the Word and their stories.

Do not be a Jonah. The Lord has a purpose and a mission for you. It maybe right where you are or it maybe in Timbuktu. Just like Mylon, when Jonah got in the boat to go away from the Lord’s call, there was nothing but storms and sadness and definitely not a peace that passes all understanding.

Hebrews 13: 20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
