The Treasure Hunter

I have to admit, I love the mystery and adventure of a treasure hunt. I am a big fan of the tv series, The Curse of Oak Island, any show about the Knights Templars or the 2nd Temple treasure, and the movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark. I was also a big fan of the tv show, Relic Hunter, but that had more to do with Tia Carrera than treasure hunting. Recently, I have been investigating the known information about the Copper Scroll, a scroll made of copper found in the caves of Qumran (along with the Dead Sea Scrolls) that lists the location of religious artifacts and various gold and silver deposits. Read more about it at the Copperscrollproject.com.

Honestly, I dream about getting the chance to go to Oak Island or to Jerusalem or someplace similar and putting on my Indiana Jones hat and going through an adventure and finding something significant. I am sure that a lot of men do.

However, I have to remind myself that there is a mysterious book (or internet app) of treasure full of riddles and clues and ancient (though eternal) wisdom that leads to a great adventure, right in front of me. I am of course, talking about God’s Word, the Bible. Also, the treasure that I am talking about is a life full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control. It can also lead to an eternal life of glory and salvation.

I am thankful for these treasures more than I am for silver and gold. These are treasures that no moth or rust can destroy, they do not go up or down in value depending on how the economy is doing (like gold and silver), and their mastery can lead to prosperity in your spirit. These treasures are also some of the building blocks to being successful in whatever business you are in.

Take some time to crack open and learn the Word. If you realize that the Devil, the Advesary doesnt want you to do it, it becomes an adventure and true treasure lies within!

Proverbs 3:13-15 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
