I have been thinking a lot lately about an idea I had a couple years ago which I shared with my young nieces. I told them that Jesus told a similar story to the story of the Three Little Pigs (do I have to remind you of it??) and that they should build their lives with bricks and on the rock. I was not able to find proof of this on the web, but I believe that the story of the Three Little Pigs was inspired by the metaphor that Jesus gave in Matthew 7:24-26:

(24)”Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (25)The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. (26) But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

Whether or not the story of the Three Little Pigs was inspired by the above scripture or not, it definitely is relevant to us today.

The storms are definitely here. The wolf is definitely at the door, huffing and puffing. Those who have built their house on the rock and whose hope is in Him are going to continue to stand and those that have built their hope in themselves, their jobs/career, even their own family, are foolish men. They cannot save themselves from Hell, their jobs/career may not even be there after all is said and done, and one’s own families could turn their back on them. However, the Lord is a very present help in the midst of trouble. He will not turn His back on you, He will still be there when all is said and done, and He can save you from Hell. Is your house made of bricks?

Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
