Trump is a Loser!

I have not been quiet about my disappointment regarding Donald Trump not winning a 2nd term. I still believe that he did and I am still hoping that the evidence will come out to incriminate those who manipulated and changed the outcome.

However, one thing that I have had to confront is that just because I agree with those modern-day prophets that said that Trump was the Lord’s choice, it does not mean that Trump’s time in office would last the longest time or that he would be remembered by the media or others to be the greatest president ever.

The source that I use for this is comparing Donald Trump’s time in office to the reign of the kings of Israel and Judah. There were kings of Israel and Judah who the Bible says, “did right in the eyes of the Lord” who history has not remembered and/or were on the throne for only a few years. For example, 2 Kings 22:2 says of king Josiah of Judah:

.”..And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the way of David his father, and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.”

That is a wonderful endorsement and he served 31 years in Judah–the longest of any of the “good” kings of Judah or Israel. However, the longest reign of all the kings of Judah or Israel was had by Manasseh. Manasseh was one of the most evil of all the kings of Judah and he reigned 55 years. 2 Kings 33:4 says of him:

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD by following the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

None of the kings of Israel even come close to that number of years, yet his list of abominations is long and graphic.

Manasseh (55 years in Judah),  Azariah (52 year reign in Judah), and king Joash (40 years in Judah), and king Jeroboam II (40 years in Israel) all were reported as doing evil in the sight of the Lord.

So being “good” and honoring the Lord did not really lead to a long time in office. It did not for Mr. Trump or the faithful kings of Israel or Judah. I wish it had. I wish I could point to a direct connection to honoring God and having a long time in office and even to economic and cultural prosperity. However I cannot then and I cannot now. However, it is impossible to deny that we had economic prosperity under Trump and we would have had that for 4 more years of it if he had remained.

However there is a bigger issue at stake. The question becomes, where do my values lie? Who do I want to say, I did a good job? Who is my evaluator? What do I want God to say about me? IF God the god of the Bible exists, then it makes all the difference to me if I did what was evil or good in the sight in HIS sight. If He does, when I was in office a week or 8 years or 100 years, it does not matter—I do not want to be known as “evil”. I want to be known as doing “right” in His eyes as it will not only have consequences right now with Him (giving me a life full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, and self-control) and it will also have eternal consequences. Did Manasseh have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control? I don’t know. I do know that he did not have them as the Lord could only give those to him.

I have been praying that my president, Donald Trump is filled with the same perspective on his defeat in November of 2020.

1 Kings 2:3 … and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go
