The French Revolution Part 1: The Beginning

I have thinking a lot about the French Revolution of the late 1700s lately. I have also been thinking about other revolutions: the Russian Revolution, The Chinese Revolution, even our own. I have been thinking a lot about how the things that happened then are reflected in the events that one can see in the news, now. Some of these revolutions resulted in massive bloodshed and political establishments worse that the revolutionaries started with! I believe that given the opportunity, Antifa, George Soros, and the Deep State would like to see a similar revolution as what happened in Russia or in China or in various African revolutions. I also believe there is some evil in all 3 (though I do know that Jesus loves George Soros as He does everyone)! To explore this a little more, I have done a little research on the French Revolution.

I realize that there are volumes of books written about that event and I do not claim to be a historian or have done years of research on it. However, I did study a couple videos on YouTube regarding the French Revolution. I particularly am referencing two videos regarding the topic by the Oversimplified channel: The French Revolution – OverSimplified (Part 1 and 2), for this discussion. Consequently, I suspect that this comparison may seem a little oversimplified. However, I hope that we examine a little history and see some parallels between then and now in the hope of not repeating it.

The French Revolution started during a time of high taxes and a huge disparity between rich and poor, the king partying hard, and a natural disaster. Now, you can easily get negative results from such unbiased sources such as the Huffington Post, CBS News and Bloomberg regarding Donald Trump’s success regarding his attempts to help the middle class, but that is not what all the sources say. According to Investor’s Business Daily: (www.investors.com/politics/editorials/middle-class-revival-trump/) , TheHill (https://thehill.com/opinion/finance/476959-contrary-to-what-the-media-reports-middle-class-americans-are-surging), FoxBuiness, and one article from Issues and Insights, Obama Promised A ‘Middle Class’ Economy, Trump Delivered It (https://issuesinsights.com/2020/02/11/obama-promised-a-middle-class-economy-trump-delivered-it/), Trump is growing the middle class! The last article states that President Obama was the president who reduced the middle class and increased the disparity between the rich and the poor! There are other articles which agree with this statement.

It is common knowledge that Republicans are all about lowering taxes! In 2017, Trump created the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA): lowering the top individual tax rate from 39.6% to 37% and doubled the standard deduction. According to the following article by the Washington Post (of all papers), Obama increased Middle-Class taxes thanks to Obamacare and his other programs: www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/11/11/president-obama-raised-middle-class-taxes-and-lost-an-election/.

The attempt to compare Trump vacationing to King Louis 16th’s parties is not a fair comparison . Trump has been working tirelessly on those things he promised to do. A website comparing the presidents’ vacation times and expenses can be seen in the following article: https://www.cheatsheet.com/culture/which-president-takes-more-vacation-days-barack-obama-or-donald-trump.html/. While Trump can be seen taking more vacation days compared to Obama at the same amount of time in office, Trump takes all his vacations at his own resorts!

Fourthly, there were natural disasters which acted as a catalyst to the French Revolution. One can debate whether or not the Coronavirus is “natural”. Do you think China created it to create unstability in our raging economy? I do! However, the natural disasters prior to the French Revolution meant there were less crops which meant that farmers had less to sell, which meant that more people were hungry and the government decided to increase taxes. Thankfully, during this pandemic, the government has increased small-business/low-interest loans and given stimulus checks out and required people to spend them!

So while I don’t believe that Trump resembles the aristocracy of the French Revolution, it is common knowledge that the media has tried to make him out to be! We will examine this more in depth next week and how this led to the riots, the purges, the ensuing Reign of Terror and make some modern parallels.

1 Corinthians 13:6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
