The Best Of Fall 2018 – What To Wear – Before It’s Too Late

Written and Produced by James Vincent

Don’t be left out in the cold. Versatile wardrobe additions to grab for fall 2018 while there’s still time to wear them.

When autumn first arrives – on the calendar anyway – the weather is still relatively warm but most everyone is ready for fall to arrive with its panoply of related events whether it’s just the trees changing colors, Halloween or the excuse to rush into comfort food for the next six months. All too soon though the reality that sinks in is that what inevitably arrives after fall will be winter and there’s a rush to extend fall as much as you can.  And one of the things that most people agree on is their favorite autumn tradition is their love of fall clothing choices.  We take a look now at The Best of Fall from our archives of the last four years.

Most professional men need a new suit – or three – as they head into the fall and winter seasons – here are three of our favorites.

The best way to integrate and justify several new suits in one season is to think creatively how they can be worn. With the popularity of the athleisure look the past few years is to think how the suit can be worn at the office, but also how it can be dressed down to suit other occasions. A classic suit is a classic suit and if you’ve been wandering what’s a good basic suit to always have in your wardrobe – then it’s this one. A classic medium gray  suit. Get one that’s not too trendy skinny, but narrow enough to be on trend and will last a few seasons. Narrow but not too narrow lapels and a double vent is the way to go with this one. Another classic that will take you anywhere – from the office, out to dinner and even the gym by switching the suit coat to a denim or hoodie – is this classic brown glen plaid. It’s just serious enough for the office but also fun for a night out. Here from our January 2015 article: https://menofvalue.com/2014/12/29/weekend-get-away-wardrobe-essentials/

Enough with the suits – who doesn’t love to wear the warm, cozy fall staple sport jacket? In this case a classic herringbone tweed. You just can’t go wrong. You could literally wear it every day on nicer autumn days as an outerwear piece with jeans and a scarf and it can be dressed up for the office with trousers and a tie. Classic turtleneck sweaters never go out of style for fall – especially a cable knit in classic fall burnt orange. Not everyone can pull off wearing orange – but if you can – go for it! Here from our January 2018 article: https://menofvalue.com/2018/01/01/6-must-menswear-looks-winter-2018/

Down Vest, Scotch and Soda; Sweater, Peter Millar; Scarf, Polo Ralph Lauren; Jeans, Joe’s; Boots, Steve Madden.

A Polo shirt isn’t just for summer anymore. Throw on a tweedy sport coat over a bright color Polo and you have your own distinctive look for an afternoon of wandering about. Here from our September 2016 issue: https://menofvalue.com/2016/08/31/pivot-fall-2016-keep-simple-slim-smart/
