Jeffrey Dahmer

Jeffrey Dahmer was truly one of the worst human beings, ever. Truly his crimes rank him down there with Adolph Hitler, Stalin, and others. His crimes are the stuff of horror stories and the worst nightmares. He would drug and kill men and masturbate over their corpses. He injected the skull of one 14 year old with hydrochloric acid. He would boil the remains of his victims in acid and later he started a collection of the skulls of his victims. According to the following video The Boy Killer – The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer (Serial Killer) ,his stated that his goal was to obtain complete and total control over another human being. I had the idea to do this devotional and I set apart doing research on what his crimes actually were and that one video is as far as I could go.

However, when it all came out what he had done in the early 1990’s, I honestly did not pay a lot of attention. That is why I had to watch the above video now. But I did remember hearing the general news report. I do remember the news report saying that they had found body parts in his refrigerator. I had no idea that he lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I used to tell a joke…where is Jeffrey Dahmer from? Hackensack, New Jersey!

One factoid that I obtained over the years that has rubbed on me like a pebble in my shoe is that in prison, he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Why I Baptized Jeffrey Dahmer). I wondered and wondered about this. Why Jesus would WANT such a person? How could Jesus’ bl0od be enough for such a person? I wondered these questions even though I did not know the specifics of his serial killings and I did not want to know.

However, according to the Bible, it is. According to the Bible, NO ONE is beyond redemption, despite how awful of a person they were here on Earth, despite how much pain they caused. It may upset the stomach, it may seem the height of unfairness, it may make one to cry out to God, but that is exactly what the Bible says. Not only does the Bible say that even Jeffrey Dahmer could claim the blood of Jesus to cover his sins, the Bible says repeatedly that WE have committed sins similar to his! In Matthew 5:22, Jesus said that every time we call someone a fool, we are worthy of the fires of Hell. He also said in Matthew 5:28 that if we just look at a woman with lust in our heart, we have already committed adultery with her. According to the Bible, we are just as bad as Jeffrey Dahmer on his worst day! We are not more guilty or innocent before God than Jeffrey Dahmer was.

We need the same blood to cover our sins that he received. We need the same forgiveness that he was able to receive, despite the fact that you never killed anyone or how good of a person you may think you are.

If I see him up there in Heaven, my heart will praise God, because I am forgiven too and made right in Him and not through any work that I have done, just like Jeffrey Dahmer.

Romans 5:8 – But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
