The Importance of Triathlon Training Plans

Having great training plans is important when you are planning to do a triathlon. They help prevent injuries, get you ready in all three sports, and help you prepare physically as well as mentally. But no matter how great your cycling coaching is and your plans are, if you are not following them, they will not work! You will need strong will power, and real determination to get through both the training as well as the race. Without them, you will not achieve your goals and might not even manage to finish.
What are your strengths?
Think about what your strengths are and then what that means your weaknesses are. Of course, you should work still on your strengths so you still make improvements, but those weaknesses will need a lot of focus. That means physically hard work as well as overcoming mental blocks that might hold you back. With the right training and training plan, these things will give you insight and show improvement.
Set achievable goals
Your goals are what decent triathlon training plans should be focused on so that you achieve them. Make those goals something you can reach. It is okay to set smaller goals that you then can adjust. It feels better to achieve and extend your goals than set something you cannot do and feel the weight of that. You will already be battling fatigue and negative voices in your head.
How long will you need to train for?
The length of training is not the same for everyone. It depends on the level of competition you are entering, your experience, your fitness level, your ability in each three sport and more. In general for a mini-triathlon think at least a few months, for something much harder like an Ironman Triathlon consider a year at the minimum.
Focus on all three sports
Remember there are three sports here to master. If you are getting cycling coaching it might be a good idea to look for one with triathlon experience so they know there are another two areas to think about as well as the biking. Focus really hard on your weaker area first and bring that up to somewhere you feel better about then work on the next or doing all three.
Are you including practice for the transition?
Since there are three stages and sports in this competition a really important area that needs training focus, that many forget is the transitioning. When you are moving from swimming to cycling that is hard on the body. It uses different muscles and it needs training in advance to be able to adjust with any kind of speed. Make sure your triathlon training plans include transition practice until it comes naturally to you.
Summary
Triathlons are a touch competition and if you have achievement goals in mind for them, they need to be trained for. Look hard into getting a great coach to help you, and make sure your plans are something that suits you and your needs and the time you have to spend on it.
