Devotional 5/31: A Prayer for Stan Lee

(Note: All Marvel characters and images are property of Marvel Comics Group, no copyright infringement is intended)

Stan Lee is a man who has definitely led the life of imagination and fantasy. He is currently 94, a good long life by anyone’s standards. I hope that he will continue for many more years. He was born Jewish but according to the following website: hollowverse.com/stan-lee/, Mr Lee has led almost a purely secular life. Mr. Lee also has stated that there are no intentional references to his religious background in any of his stories. This is despite that there have been many religious references from his characters of Spider-Man, Captain America, etc…. some of those references I have used in devotionals here at menofvalue.com. Here is one famous one:

Often times in Marvel Comics, God is referred to as the great editor/writer/creator. One time,  when Reed Richards (in Fantastic Four 511) supposedly meets “God” He is in the form of Jack Kirby. As in Jack Kirby and Stan Lee had the power to do anything they wanted with their universe. I wonder if Mr. Stan Lee ever saw Yahweh/EL/El-Shaddhi/Jehovah as being the supreme editor/writer/and creator of our universe the same way. I think if he had spent some in His Word, then I hope Stan Lee sees that THE Lord is and was closer and more concerned and involved in his children’s day-to-day/moment-to-moment experiences than even he had been with his universe. The Bible says that He is. I have faith in that and I hope that Mr. Lee can see that too from this Earth.

Now, I am not saying that Mr. Lee is a bad person because he has not lived that. However, no one’s righteousness is enough to enter the Lord’s kingdom. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

I offer this prayer for him as I offer it for all (including myself!):

Dear Lord, we pray hard and we pray strongly for the soul of Stan Lee. Lord, he is old but that means nothing to you. You can still crack his heart and he can still hear your Word in your Word and in his heart.  Help him to know that his adventure is not done yet but that you have another adventure for him soon. Help him to see it and want it. Help him to know you as the great editor and the great writer and the great creator. His whole life has been about creating supernatural stories therefore show him, supernaturally that YOU are who you say you are and when it is his time, we ask you to welcome him into your kingdom of love and joy and peace We bind Satan from him in the name of Yeshua Ha-Mashia.

Lamentations 3:21-23 “But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
