WFH? Hybrid? Create Your Spring/Summer 2023 Wardrobe Now!

Are you one of the lucky guys who was able to sit back and work from home but now it’s back to the office, or at least part time? Then, you just peered into your closet and realized your wardrobe needs an update? And now you’re stressed on top of everything else? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered – in more ways than one!

It’s been a couple of years and your stock retinue of outfits maybe needed a hit on the refresh button anyway. If you’re client facing a lot, a few all-around versatile suits are always a good investment. If you’re northern clime located and there is still a bit of chill in the air, start out with a year-round fabric like this versatile, muted navy and rust tattersall plaid suit. It’s business-like but also fashion forward. Pick up on the rust color – and the tattersall – by pairing it with a light orange and white tattersall shirt. Throw in a bold medallion print tie and you’re ready to invest your client’s extra earnings in securities and bonds!

While we’re on the year-round fabrication effort, a simple, blue tweed is always a good bet. It’s business friendly while also a good candidate as separates, which is why it’s sold that way. The jacket could easily pair with khakis for a more casual workday and the trousers are a natural with sneakers and a light sweater for a weekend brunch. It’s so versatile in fact, you’ll almost forget how great it looks with a dress shirt and tie for work – or ditch the tie altogether for a more relaxed office environment!

As the calendar flips the pages into early summer, you’ll want to have a lighter suit – not only in fabric weight but color. Light gray suiting material fits this double bill. The light gray color pairs well with pastel shades in shirts, like lavender, pink and yellow that lay out a perfect foundation for some fun, floral ties for the warmer months. You’ll be thankful you’ve got this suit when the days turn hot and muggy, but you still need to look your best while you’re advising your client list all day.

We’re also heading into the celebration months – think weddings, graduations and the like. The times when you feel the need to be a little dressed up but not constricted with business attire. One way to expand your wardrobe for these warm weather occasions is linen. Forget that it wrinkles, that’s the beauty of it – and, BTW, ditch the shirt and tie for a colorful tee. Not only are you able to relax in a linen sportscoat or suit, but the wrinkles also give the pieces texture and telegraphs that you don’t care and are comfortable in your own skin – or in a phrase popularized recently – comfortable in your “Stealth Wealth” (hat tip to the Paltrow trial!).

And when the occasion calls for an even more casual, yet dressed up vibe, layer a new chunky knit retro style polo shirt under a colorful linen jacket with draw string waist trousers and huaraches. All the other guests will be wondering why they’re so uncomfortable as you amble about effortlessly socializing and nibbling on hors-d’oeuvres.

And finally, to dust off a tired old cliché, into every life – or in this case, photo shoot – a little rain must fall. Don’t get caught off guard when a sudden rainstorm cloud threatens your weekend event. Throw a roomy raincoat into your car. Its generous proportions are not only built to go over your linen and chunky sweater – but probably one of your kids too! Enjoy your summer and dress for not only the occasion – but for you as well!
