Zorbing An Alternative Cure for the Winter Blues
By Rubel Zaman September 09, 2012
With the winter months coming up and summer beginning to end, the evenings will soon become darker as we put away our T shirts and get out our coats and jumpers. The transition from summer fun to winter can be a depressing experience and adjusting to the winter months is actually recognized as a mild medical condition known as ‘Seasonal Affective Disorder’.
But when the cold kicks in, you can always combat those winter blues by finding ways to enjoy yourself during your spare time. Trying new experiences and learning new skills will keep you motivated and your mind and body active. There’s no better way to brush off winter dirge than by trying your hand at a new sport.
Most people have probably never even heard of the word ‘Zorbing’, let alone what know it actually is. But for those of us in the know, zorbing is one of the funniest and bizarre recreational sports ever devised. It involves literally rolling yourself downhill in an ‘orb’, a transparent ball made of plastic. Of course you can also go zorbing on a flat surface too which will give you far more control of your orb, but the thrill of spinning round and round down a gentle hill or ramp is an amazing experience that will more than chase away those winter blues. Zorbing is an activity you can also share with your friends. You can all get into the same orb and roll around having the time of your lives. Zorbing is completely safe and of course trained professionals will be on hand to show you how to stay safe while you enjoy yourself in a specifically constructed location. Orbs can either be harnessed or un-harnessed, depending on your confidence and/or thirst for thrill seeking fun.
Orbs are made of a lightweight flexible plastic designed for your comfort. Since Zorbs conception in 1994 by New Zealanders, David and Andrew Akers, it has become an internationally loved pastime, and many of the best zorbing locations are located in the UK.
Zorbing has even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records, with the longest Zorb ride lasting for 570 meters, and the fastest travelling at 32 mph. Zorbing has increasingly entered mainstream consciousness, with Cricket star Andrew Flintoff set a Zorbing record for running the fastest 100m in a Zorb in aid of Comic relief. Zorbing is even going to be one of the symbols of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Russia, another example of Zorbing’s popularity.
orbing is just one of many brilliant experience days that the excellent website Treatme.net have to offer. From Rally driving to indoor skydiving, treatme are unsurpassed in their ability to supply the coolest and most thrilling recreational sports.
