Devotional 11/02: Wrestling with G-d

I had fallen and I could not get up.

I had fallen and I did not want to get up.

But you ordered me up so I jumped up and grabbed you.

I held on tight and I would not let go.

(Was it wrestling or holding? I don’t know)

You told me to let you go, but  I said, “No, I will not let you until you bless me.”

There was NOTHING else I could do.

All I could do is not let you go.

All I could do is hang on.

I saw the sun coming up.

You touched my hip and it hurt.

But I would not let you go.

I said, “No, I will not let you go until you bless me.”

When I asked you your name you would not tell me.

But because I asked you and saw you and hung to you, you blessed me.

For my strivings with you, you changed my name.

My name is Israel.
