SPORTS: Wilson is More Than A Volleyball By Brad Weisman

I could never get my hand around “The Duke” as a kid or even as a 41 year old. I can sit there all day long and look at “The Duke”, but getting that tight spiral presents a challenge. I could never could get an A2000 glove because my dad really did not want to spend that kind of money on me as a kid. I have one now and boy do I see the value:) I could talk all day about the superior products Wilson puts in the market place, but that is not what this article is about. Anyone can plug a brand, but what can you plug about the brand that has nothing to do with the product? The people my friends!

I had the privilege to work for this VERY impressive company that is US BASED. The spark of this brand extends further than the top senior management they have in place. Awwwww man let me get started with the mailroom. Jerome is the guy who delivered packages to everyone and gave me a high five on a daily basis. Days that were not easy for me always seemed fine when I walked passed Jerome. He has no idea what that high five meant to me and how the crack of that clap echoed all day in my head. Jerome works hard and cares about everyone he comes in contact with in that building. Jerome made every one of my days sensational no matter if the clouds covered the sun. Mark is another name I can think of who pushes hard in the distribution center in Nashville. Mark is a super father and father to the folks who work in that building. The day Mark and I locked hands I felt like he could have been my dad. Firm….soft heart…and focused on getting it done day in and day out. Wilson (www.wilson.com) is a brand that has protected the history of where they came from and keep many people happy in special jobs in a special place. This video does a great job of defining what this brand is all about: http://www.wilson.com/en-us/video/#54936

Working there changed me and everything I do. Tom, you taught me well even though we met infrequently. Chris I watched your body language and tried to latch onto it as best as I could. Bob, you kept complicated things in perspective and made me laugh. Jerome you helped me grow up everyday. I am hardly a man inside my brain of two cells, but Jerome taught me to be kind and relax a little. Wilson is a fine brand with extraordinary people behind those doors. Perhaps paying a premium for that A2000 glove is worth more than what you paid for it.
