(Bloomberg) — Texas sued the U.S. government over a change in rules tied to the federal Family and Medical Leave Act requiring recognition of same-sex unions in states where they are illegal, according to a complaint filed in federal court in Wichita Falls. The change in the definition of spouse under the “rule attempts to override Texas law and force Texas employers, including state agencies, to recognize out-of-state same-sex unions as marriages,” Ken Paxton, the state attorney general, said in court papers. The rule takes effect March 27.
