Welcome from the Editor

Welcome to Men of Value! We are here because men of values are men of value. We are committed to celebrating the men who have values and who act on them. Also, we are interested in discussing together how to apply the values we stand for in today’s world. We, as men of value, understand the importance of teaching the younger generation these values. The question in today’s pluralistic world is what values are we referring to—what are the values worth celebrating? The values that we feel are worth not only celebrating, but educating fellow men on, and propagating to the next generation are our American Judeo-Christian values of faith—faith and service to God (however you see Him) and treating others as you would want to be treated, family—being a committed son, husband, brother, father of value, and freedom—expressions of patriotism and American service.

We are not here to demonize or deify any person or act in the world. We realize, the person we celebrate for an ethical act one week may earn ire and contempt the next week. We all have the potential for good and evil. Likewise, the man who despises faith, family, and freedom can start anew. We are all only human and we all have divine forgiveness open to us.

We realize that not all American values are compatible with Judeo-Christian values or vice versa. We also realize that both American and Judeo-Christian values have been used and abused to justify evil means. We also realize that many men from different countries also value faith, family, and freedom. We encourage those men to learn about how we express those values and/or to seek publications they enjoy. We also realize that, in some ways, our celebrating of and educating on certain stories can be seen as judging. We prefer to see it as discriminating. Not discriminating in the prejudicial sense, but in the educational sense. All teachers have to discriminate between pieces of information to determine which will best serve their student’s interest. We as editors will make judgments on the contents of the publication to determine what information is of best interest to the goals and aspirations of Judeo-Christian men of values. There are always other avenues of information with different values available to readers in this information age. Regarding those who do not value faith, family and/or freedom we admit this magazine would not be for you. However, we are not judging you as bad Americans, we are not saying you do not love your mother, or that you are trying to overthrow the government, etc… But again, this publication is about and for men who value our American Judeo-Christian values of faith, family and freedom.

In the nineteenth century a young Frenchman, Alexis de Tocqueville, came to the United States to observe this nation. Afterwards he wrote: “I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers, and it was not there; in her fertile fields and boundless prairies, and it was not there; in her rich mines and her vast world commerce, and it was not there. Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”
