Women and Family

Women and Family by Brad Weisman: Just Treat Her Right…

As men, we learn what we want in life at some point. It might be career driven or it might be something else. At an early age it is about being popular, however as we get older it is about things that are far more important. It could be career driven… possessions… or is it about love for some of us? Well, to get love you gotta friggin’ give it!

I grew up in a family where my siblings were two wonderful women I call my sisters. It was not done intentionally, however unintentionally I was learning how to be a better man around women. In fact, around anyone. Additionally, I am liberal and believe we are who we are and ones sexuality is personal. Don’t let society mark you… be yourself. I am an alpha male who also happens to have a few close friends that are gay. Good  for them for being themselves. I don’t go around bragging about being straight and nor should they have to announce their sexuality. Be who you are. Now let’s get back to the subject of how to foster a healthy relationship for men to women. However, I state all of this with the intent that all relationships are important and need to be infused with healthy engagement.

Here is my short list of ways to foster love and care from men to women:

  • Always let a lady walk ahead of you
  • Always open the door in front of them
  • Get in the habit of opening the car door for a lady
  • Listen and learn
  • Don’t ever tell a lady to calm down, but rather talk through the issue
  • Let them dress you
  • Be vulnerable and let your emotions out on the table
  • Fight for your love
  • Don’t be afraid to have a healthy argument
  • Don’t lead with sex, but rather lead with care and emotions—if you can’t do either then don’t get married. You need BOTH!

I could easily make this list longer. I am not a doctor, but rather a man who has always paid attention to the “women” of the house. Two sisters and a mom made sure I followed my heart and not my hands. As a result, I do consider myself an expert on being a gentleman. However, to each his or her own. Follow what fosters love for you, however I just wanted to share.

I hardly am the example, but I am a WIPE (work in progress everyday).

Proverbs 30:18 There are three things which are too wonderful for me, Four which I do not understand: 19The way of an eagle in the sky, The way of a serpent on a rock, The way of a ship in the middle of the sea, And the way of a man with a maid.
