There has been a lot of things in the past several years to get men of Judeo-Christian values upset. I am not making light of ANY of them. God bless America and you have the right to be upset. One might even say if you are not upset then you are not paying close enough attention!

However, I want to make the specific point that we are not to allow fighting these social issues or slights or societal sins to be our Lord. We need to keep everything in perspective and direction clear. Our God is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14).

Regarding the slight from Starbucks regarding their Christmas cups, we need to remember that our cups (whatever color they maybe) runneth over, if we are allowing the One Above All to be our Shepard (Psalm 23:5) and we are called to drink of the same cup as Christ did, Mark 10:38.

Regarding the battle for traditional marriage, we need to remember that we are members of the Bride of Christ, if we trust in Him. This is mentioned in 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:24 and other places. Again, this is battle cannot define our relationship with God.

Regarding chicken sandwiches, Chik-Fil-A’s battle for traditional marriage (I realize that this one is a bit dated), Jesus is the bread of Life, John 6:35. That is the most important thing to take from their battle. And Chick-Fil-A is doing just fine, thank you.

I have been around people who think that being anti-evolution is the same as being pro-God and that is not the case. There are atheists who can see the holes in the Theory of Evolution. Even demons see know that God is a great creator James 2:19.

There are others whose religion seems to be focused on being pre- or post- tribulationists. Some of them seem are not focused on living for the Lord, NOW. The Lord calls us to live for Him now, Isaiah 55:6. Lets use our faith to battle today’s tribulations Matthew 6:34.

Regarding Hobby Lobby, theirs was an important battle. But the battle is the Lord’s. To me, abortion is a sin straight out of Hell. The fact that our government would force a business to pay for it or contraception is wrong. Living for the Lord has to be more than a hobby!

Again, social action is important. This is not an appeal to pietistic separatism. This is an appeal to put the Lord first and not allow the cause to be your Lord.

Living moment by moment on a daily basis for the Lord in obedience and faith are oftentimes the hardest and most important battles! 

John 16:33: I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
